I occasionally make websites for other people and try to link them from here when I do.
I always check out how the sites display and function in a variety of browsers and devices. You would imagine that a site displayed on the same version of the same browser in two different operating systems would look pretty similar, but weirdly.. not always. So I check and make adjustments.
I tend to prefer graceful degradation over masses of targeted code as it is so much more future proof. Take Opera for example, so so so many sites still go *sniff, sniff* "Opera? Oh, here's a denial of service page." for no justifiable reason.
Also I probably won't be adding fixes for IE6 much longer, not that IE7 or 8 are much better.
